📰 Hamble Valley Festival of Food 2017 – Another success for organisers

The sun shone on the village of Hamble on Saturday 2nd September as visitors from all ages attended the third Hamble Valley Festival of Food to celebrate the very best of local produce, maritime heritage and to enjoy a family day out.

Over 3000 people attended the event, enjoying the  25 stalls from Hampshire Farmers’ Market and local producers, where  a range of produce was tested, tasted and purchased from gin, chocolates, honey, wine, pies and meat. Many of the producers sold all of their stock before the end of the event.

Lead sponsor was McCarthy and Stone, the house builder behind the new Retirement Living development on Hamble Lane attended the event to be part of the positive legacy of a strong Hamble community.

Eastleigh Borough Council sponsored The Old Sea Dogs band that provided toe-tapping sea shanties, which had visitors jigging on the quay, and the Punch and Judy attracted a large crowd as the traditional characters entertained children and families as the sun shone.

Maritime and nautical themed arts and crafts with Bella Crafts and balloon modelling with Big Cat Jungle parties kept young visitors entertained throughout the day.

The popular Dog Show returned which was organised by Hamble Hounds Dog Training and Problem Solving and Oscar Pet Foods,

The Hamble Festival of Food is organised by destination marketers ‘The Marketing Collective’.

Managing Director Jo Andrews said “We couldn’t have hoped for a better festival. The atmosphere and feedback has been fantastic. We have received so many positive comments and a five star rating on the events Facebook page. All the traders were very happy. Once again the event, visitors and community of Hamble exceeded our expectations! The event was very well attended. Event car parks were full having been expertly managed by Netley Sea Scouts and we know that Warsash was just as busy with visitors choosing to park in Warsash and cross the river in the Pink Ferry. There were three ferries working continuously during the event!

The Hamble Valley Food Festival reputation for a great foodie, family day out continues to grow and plans are already being made for 2018
