The Southampton Partnership has been established as the Local Strategic Partnership for the City.  The partnership is responsible for implementing Southampton’s Community Strategy to improve economic, social and environmental wellbeing.

Southampton has 11 priority neighbourhoods (1. Bevois and Bargate 2. Portswood and St Denys 3. Thornhill 4. Outer Shirley 5. Weston 6. Lorshill 7. Flower Road, Hampton Park and Mansbridge 8. Freemantle and Polygon 9. Townhill Park 10. Harefield 11. Shirley Estate) that form approximately 40% of the population in Southampton. Profiles are available from Southampton City Council.

Doing your bit for the City by getting involved and improving your local area with Southampton City Council

The Enviro-watch scheme has been developed to encourage groups of residents who would like to help look after their immediate locality.

Neighbourhood Wardens are in all areas of the city. They are there to help make the area you live in better. You can help by telling them about concerns and issues that affect the place you live. More information available from Southampton City Council

The Junior Neighbourhood Wardens scheme helps improve the physical environment, promote citizenship and to tackle juvenile nuisance and anti social behaviour. Find out more information from Southampton City Council.

Southampton’s Community is not just a group of people who live in a particular area, but can also be people who share a particular lifestyle, religion, hobby or interest. City Council supports Southampton's communities and gives information on how you can get involved.

Local Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy has been developed to tackle disadvantage and raise aspirations in the 11 Priority Neighborhoods

The District area team from Southampton City Council works with area based cleansing and grounds maintenance. The deep clean of district areas includes scraping out weeds, removing leaves, litter, glass and general debris, therefore ensuring a thorough scrub of the locality.

Thornhill Plus You is a government funded New Deal for Communities initiative to regenerate the area. Thornhill Plus You encourages residents to get involved and keeps them updated on progress.

Freemantle and  Shirley community Association

There are 18 council-owned Community Centres located within the 5 Neighbourhoods Partnerships areas across the city, and are mostly run by voluntary community associations
