Howard Hodgkin is one of Britain’s foremost painters and printmakers working today and is represented in almost every major museum worldwide.
The current exhibition focuses on Hodgkin’s accomplishments as a printmaker. The title, As Time Goes By, is taken from the two monumental works, exhibited at Southampton for the first time in a public gallery. Alongside this new work, the exhibition features a number of other prints showing a long standing development and dialogue with this medium.
If you would like to explore Howard Hodgkin’s work and the practice of print-making in more depth, then please join us for these two very special events: A printmaking demonstration with expert printer Claire Wait f the 107 Workshop, Wiltshire, where Hodgkin’s prints are produced. Claire has been working with Jack Sherriff to produce the demonstration. Jack is a master printer who has collaborated with Howard Hodgkin for over twenty-five years as well as many other international artists. This will be followed by a lecture by Andy Barker who has worked as Howard Hodgkin’s studio assistant for over 15 years. He regularly lectures on Hodgkin’s work and will give an insightful view into his practice and the new works in the exhibition.
