Children in Southampton were tasked with designing a community flag that represents the city’s heritage, diversity and unique character.
Six flag designs were chosen from over five hundred designs, entered from school children aged between five and sixteen years of age.
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Simon Letts then invited residents of Southampton to have their say and choose the final design from the shortlist. The final votes were counted and the winning design was by Yihuan Han, aged 8 from Portswood Primary School.
Congratulations to Yihuan who has won a number of prizes including family tickets to the Slava Snow show at the Mayflower Theatre, as well as free tickets to Tudor House and Garden and Sea City Museum.
Well done to all the other 5 finalists who will also receive prizes and thank you to all those who designed and sent in a flag.
On the 23 November at 10am, Yihuan will raise the new flag for the first time outside of the front of the Civic.
