National Clean Air Day7th June 2017
National Clean Air Day
Southampton is one of six focus cities supporting National Clean Air Day on Thursday 15 June.
This is the first ever National Clean Air Day (NCAD) led by Global Action Plan.
On the day there will be a variety of electric vehicles being showcased at the Bargate in the city centre where you can meet the owners and manufacturers.
In Westquay there will be air quality experts on hand from Solent Air Watch, the Environment Centre and the University of Southampton to answer questions on the issues and give advice on ways to help improve air quality.
Plus, there’ll be sustainable journey planning from the My Journey team, also giving away free saddle covers, cotton bags and travel mugs.
British Cycling will be offering cycling support and the opportunity to sign up to led rides and the HSBC UK City Ride on the 25th June.
If you sign up in advance of the ride you can benefit from a free bike health check and get entered into a free prize draw for cycling holiday vouchers. First and Bluestar will provide bus timetables and prizes to those who partake in the Wheel of Fortune!
The aim of National Clean Air Day is to get more than one million people engaged in tackling air pollution. Across the country there will be events in schools, workplaces, hospitals and communities inspiring people to think about how they can help improve air quality in the places they live and work.
