Regents Park Road Junction Improvements

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with Southampton City Council to manage the highways service across Southampton.  As part of this, the Millbrook Road West and Regents Park Road signalised junction is being updated and improved. The turning into Regents Park Road is also being widened to allow easier access.

The work will be carried out in seven phases, starting from Wednesday 1st August and taking approximately five weeks.

  • Phase 1 – overnight set up of the traffic management and installation of modern vehicle detection (from 8pm to 6am). Both right hand turns from Millbrook Road West into Regents Park Road and Millbrook Point Road will be banned and local diversions will be in placeThis will take approximately three nights to complete.
  • Phase 2 – widening of the kerb line at the junction with Regents Park Road. There will be a lane closure, however the temporary traffic signals will allow for normal traffic movement to take place. This will take approximately 10 days to complete.
  • Phase 3 – cable ducting works. There will be a lane closure, however the temporary traffic signals will allow for normal traffic movement to take place. This will take approximately three days to complete.
  • Phase 4 & 5 – replacement of the traffic signals and controllers. Both right hand turns from Millbrook Road West into Regents Park Road and Millbrook Point Road will be banned and local diversions will be in place. This will take approximately five days to complete.
  • Phase 6 & 7 – overnight cable ducting works (from 8pm to 6am). This will be completed as part of the work taking place on Third Avenue and will take approximately three nights to complete.

Millbrook Road West (service road) will be closed to traffic from White House Gardens to Regents Park Road for the duration of all the works, and diversions will be in place.
