Advice for residents and visitors on impact of Highways England’s closure of the M27 this weekend.25th September 2018
Highways England will close the M27 in both directions between junctions 3 (M271) and 4 (M3) from 10pm on Friday 28 September until 5am on Monday 1 October 2018 for work to replace the Romsey Road Bridge.
Significant disruption is expected in Southampton and the surrounding road network as a result of these works. The advice is to plan ahead and leave plenty of extra time for essential journeys.
Southampton City Council has been working with Highways England and other major city organisations to plan and where possible mitigate the impact on essential services.
Visit the Highways England website for more information on the works.

The upcoming works on Millbrook Roundabout do not clash with any of the planned closures of the M27. The Millbrook Roundabout works have been planned to start on the following morning of Monday 1 October 2018 when that section of the M27 should be fully open again.
The traffic management on the current improvement works at Stoneham Way will be lifted for the weekend and ensuring that there are no other lane closures on key routes.
Councillor Jacqui Rayment, Cabinet Member for Transport and Public Realm, said:
"We will be doing what we can locally to minimise the impact of the Highways England motorway closure and to warn people of disruption. We expect significant delays to journey times so please do plan ahead. If you’re travelling to or around Southampton over that weekend make sure you allow extra time for your journey and take public transport, walk or cycle where possible.

Friday 26 April 2019 to Monday 29 April 2019
