Southampton City Council is proud to once again support the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category, which is given to an individual aged 30 or younger based within the SO postcode region.
The winner will need to demonstrate outstanding skills and ability to achieve success within their field, including: entrepreneurship, vision, flair, initiative, creativity, leadership and ambition. We have an outstanding business community in Southampton with a wealth of talent, drive and innovation. The high calibre of entrants last year gives great expectations of the quality we can expect from this year’s entries.
Last year’s best and brightest young entrepreneur, was 25 year old Josh Williams of Bizpedia.
Bizpedia provides a fresh approach to local business networking, offering local businesses the chance to network with others, for free, at monthly breakfast events, and membership exceeded 500, in only 12 months.
A number of local businesses supported and nominated Josh for the award, citing his “decent set of values, positive outlook on life, enthusiasm and energy”, “demeanour and approach…way beyond his age and experience” and “strong drive to make things happen”, which has led him to take his business from “an initial idea to a vibrant growing business networking community”.
Southampton City Council is working with its partners to bring about a significant and ambitious transformation of the whole city with a strong emphasis on delivering the city centre master plan. Major new developments are taking place across the city, totalling over £1.6 billion investment. Our ambition is to create a connected, economically prosperous city, where everyone thrives.
The creation of new jobs from within our local community will make a key contribution towards our city’s prosperity; celebrating and encouraging the role of young people is key.
The wide array of young entrepreneurs in Southampton is especially critical to our continued success.
Entries or nominations must be submitted on an official application form, which is available alongside further information on all of the categories at dailyecho.co.uk/scba.
