11:30 am - 1pm: Passion Retold
1pm - 2pm: Praise and Worship
Passion Retold is a re-enactment of the Easter story as told by some of the key characters that we find in the biblical account.
Join a cast of performers, musicians and singers in Southampton's Guildhall Square for the city's Easter Passion play. This adaptation of the original biblical account will be performed in the heart of Southampton's Cultural Quarter. The Passion stage play written by local charity director Neil Maddock will begin at 11.30am, following local bands performing from 10.30am.
This year's Passion Retold will combine the music of 2011's play with the script from 2016. The event is being supported by generous individual donations as well as kind support from churches in Southampton.
Large crowds are expected, and a large screen, big sound system, camera positions and lighting will ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the performance.
Please note: Above Bar Street and West Marlands Road will be closed from 10am - 3pm to safely allow people to attend and enjoy the event.
This Good Friday, experience the Easter story with us. The tragedy of Jesus's sacrifice for each of us, even to the point of giving up his life, makes way for the hope of his being raised again to life.
On Friday 30th March 2018, experience the story which has changed the lives of billions since that first Good Friday 2,000 years ago. It may well change yours.
This is a FREE event being organised by E-QUIP Community Arts, Southampton Christian Network and Above Bar Church.
