📰 The Southampton Jobs Fair promises to be bigger and better this autumn!

The Southampton Jobs Fair returns to the city on Friday 7 October to showcase over a thousand vacancies in and around Southampton in the brand new Spark Conference Centre at Southampton Solent University.

Over 65 employers will be exhibiting between 10am and 3pm to discuss their current job opportunities, including 14 of the companies coming to the new WestQuay Watermark development.

The fair allows local people to expand their job and career options and to meet employers from a range of sectors including hospitality, retail, transport, logistics, the NHS and the care sector.

Organisations committed to helping jobseekers, including the council’s Employment Support Team and the National Careers Service (Wheatsheaf Trust), will be available to provide CV support, tips on interviewing and practical careers advice.

Apprenticeship providers, representatives from colleges and training providers will also be on hand to promote their range of vocational opportunities including pre-employment training for recruitment within a number of well-known businesses.

The fair will be particularly helpful to:

  •  Those who are unemployed
  •  Apprenticeship seekers
  •  Students and recent graduates
  •  Working adults looking to change their career
  •  Young people who are not in employment, education or training

Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Cllr Darren Paffey,
“This popular event saw over 500 jobseekers attend in May and promises to be bigger and better in this inspiring new location. Events like this help to support strong and sustainable growth by linking businesses with the local community.

We want to help our workforce gain new skills to find the jobs they want and to help local employers address their recruitment issues and skills gaps. “

Southampton Jobs Fair is a free event run in partnership by Southampton City Council, Jobcentre Plus, Shaw Trust, People Plus, Maximus and Wheatsheaf Trust and hosted by Southampton Solent University.
