Should we elect our council once every four years, have fewer councillors and introduce a directly elected mayor?13th October 2014
Should we elect our council once every four years, have fewer councillors and introduce a directly elected mayor?
A public consultation is open to help us identify how you feel about all of our electoral seats being re-elected once every four years in ‘whole council elections’ instead of a third at a time by holding annual elections in every three out of four years.
While we are consulting, we would also like to find out how you feel about reducing the number of councillors from 48 to 32 and the introduction of a directly elected mayor in our city.
We have not proposed any changes at this stage and will not make any decisions on whether to propose any changes until we have considered a wide range of views and feedback.
Printed copies of the questionnaire are available at our Gateway, libraries and housing offices. If you know anybody who would like to complete the questionnaire but does not have access to a computer please let them know they can pick up a printed version in these locations.
This consultation closes on 6 November 2014.
