Southampton's New Arts Complex Showcase - Saturday 15th March, 11am - 4pm - Southampton City Art Gallery
Come and find out more about Southampton’s new arts complex* and meet the four organisations who will occupy the planned site opposite Guildhall Square: Art Asia, City Eye, John Hansard Gallery and The Nuffield. Enjoy a taste of the fantastic activities the complex will offer and view the architect’s current plans for the site.
- Experience the pure sound of India with Art Asia
- Catch recent work from City Eye & Comment in City Eye’s ‘What do you think?’ video booth
- Sample extracts from the John Hansard Gallery maritime themed current exhibition, ‘Crossings’
- Expect the unexpected from The Nuffield Theatre!
- Experience Hidden Histories - an exciting new project linking arts and heritage across the city using a new technical concept, Street Radio
- Southampton Tourist Guides interpret Southampton’s history through people, places and events and will be on hand throughout the day to tell you more
- Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery - an organisation dedicated to the protection of the monuments, chapels, social and natural history of the city will provide fascinating information
- Find out more about the city beneath your feet with an exhibition of Saxon archaeological finds discovered during the building of West Quay
- Younger audiences (accompanied by an adult) can visit the Children’s Central Library to show off their artistic skills, 10:00am - 12noon and 1:00pm - 4:00pm
